Breeding is a tuff sport, as you know. Many times breeders are doing their
best efforts without getting any results.
Many of them, after a short while, are getting into desperation and stop breeding.
Others are continuing but it takes them a lot of time to have back their old excellent results.
Breeding your line is the same like building your house. If your"
breeding- line" is strong no one will destroy it. Even excellent males,
winners and champions, are giving faults while using them as studs.
"What you see is not what you get" and this is most of the time the situation. So, why do we have to suffer
so much?
Let's build a strong line of females which will need Small influence from
the chosen male to prove themselves and than to have excellent puppies.
Usually, there are two main parameters .1st one is "phenotype"-This is what you see in your eyes.
2nd one is what you can't see in your eyes calls "genotype" (Genetics).
The best explanation will be a real one. I will take a real female which
I will call her "Quinn" (not the real name).
Quinn is a nice looking female, excellent female with some nice results in shows, which has on her 3rd and 4th generation,
from both sides (both parents) a male by the name of "John".
John was a very famous male which had a lot of successes in shows and also a very
nice character.
It was very clear to me that if I will find a very influence and nice stud
male to breed
With Quinn I will have only nice males, puppies, and not females. Why?
Very simple.
If Quinn is built on an important male and the stud male that I choose,
by recipes, is a nice one and gives nice puppies I can only expect nice
males.
Female which is built on an Excellent male (On the female pedigree from
both sides) + Excellent stud male = Excellent puppy male.
So it was. Quinn gave many excellent males and some of them were very famous
dogs. Females, from her, were OK but, as we say, "Nothing to write
home about".
So, I thought to myself, that this is not a solution to continue my line
breeding.
To have nice males is OK but what will be in the future? How can I breed with males?
I need some good females in my kennel!!! Males can't be pregnant and give puppies. I thought to myself, that if
I will not go over this problem I can immediately stop breeding.
This was a real "Junction" where I had to stop for a moment and,
like in a chess game, to think few steps forward.
This was a real planning of a strategy which gave me the heiress of Quinn
by the name of Panda.
